I’m Johannes Langer, a policy and strategy consultant with 14 years of international experience working at the intersection of democratic governance, social inclusion and peacebuilding.
I support mission-driven organisations in Europe, Latin America and Africa to strengthen their programmes, align strategies with values and engage effectively with partners and communities. My approach is collaborative and pragmatic, combining strong research with political sensitivity and a deep commitment to inclusive and context-aware solutions.
Before starting my consulting practice, I held senior roles at the International Dialogue Centre (KAICIID) and Initiatives of Change Switzerland, and taught international relations at universities in Colombia. I’ve led multi-million euro programmes, advised on EU-funded initiatives and facilitated dialogue in politically sensitive environments.
I hold degrees in history and political science from the University of Vienna, and a master’s in international peace and conflict resolution from American University in Washington DC, where I studied as a Fulbright Scholar. I also spent a year at Uppsala University as an Erasmus exchange student. Over the years, I’ve lived and worked in 10 countries across three continents, which has shaped my intercultural understanding and grounded my work in real-world complexity.
Clients appreciate that I’m an active listener, connect the strategic with the operational and adapt quickly to different circumstances in a collaborative and hands-on way.
I’m based in Vienna and work across Europe and beyond — always curious, pragmatic and committed to finding solutions that work.
